Tuna Pizza is a Budget Meal
Are you looking for more budget-friendly meals? Who isn’t, right? Creating a delicious meal doesn’t have to break the bank. You’ll want to give this tuna pizza a try! Take your tuna salad outside the sandwich with budget-friendly tuna pizza.
Canned tuna is fairly inexpensive especially if you don’t splurge on solid white tuna. Watch the sales and stock up when it’s on sale. Canned tuna keeps forever so it’s a good item to stockpile. Make homemade pizza dough. If you make your own pizza dough, this meal is really inexpensive. Buying pre-made dough could cost you a few dollars but making your own will likely come in under a dollar. Shred your own cheese. Another money saving tip is to shred your own cheese. I love the convenience of shredded cheese and have more than a few bags in my fridge but block cheese is less expensive and actually melts better because it doesn’t have the anti-clumping additives that pre-shredded cheese does.
How To Make Tuna Pizza
Pre-bake the crust. I like to grease the pan with olive oil and sprinkle it with cornmeal for an extra crispy crust. Make the topping. Mix together drained tuna, mayonnaise, shredded cheese, finely diced celery, and sliced green onions. Top the pizza. Spread the topping evenly over the pre-baked crust. Top with more shredded cheese and a thinly sliced green pepper. You could substitute red pepper, if you prefer. Bake the pizza until the crust is golden brown and crisp, and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it cool a few minutes before slicing it.
