I got this recipe from our friend JV. Vaandu doesn’t like this spinach and making him eat this veggie is daunting task. I add drumstick in soups but when I was looking for some soup recipe JV shared this recipe with me. She does it in the regular stove top way, but I thought why not try this in the slow cooker. The flavor just comes from the spinach and the tadka. I have used loads of ghee but you can skip that and do the tadka with oil and top it up with butter later. Here is the recipe,

Ingredients:

Drumstick Leaves – 2 cups Water – 6 cups Pepper Powder – 2 tsps Salt – 2 tsps Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp

For Tempering:

Ghee / Oil – 3 tsps Jeera / Cumin Seeds – 2 tbsps Hing – ½ tsp Red Chillies – 3

Steps:

Clean the drumstick leaves. Remove the stems and wash them well. Take off the yellow leaves and leaves with holes.

Now in the crockpot add the drumstick leaves, 6 cups of water, salt, turmeric powder and pepper powder.

Set it in low mode for 2 hours.

Now in the tadka pan, add the ghee or oil. Once it is hot, add the cumin seeds, red chillies and hing.

As they start to splutter add it to the soup.

That’s it. Clear and yummy green soup is ready.
