What to say about this dish?? Easy to make? Yummylicious? Perfect for lunch box too? hmm you can keep adding to this. Basically its a simple, delicious dish which would be loved by all. Its not deep fried dish, but then it tastes like deep fried. Thats the highlight of the dish. Without delay here is the recipe. Ingredients:

White/Wheat/ Multigrain bread – 5 slices Oil – 2 tsps Ghee (Clarified butter) – 2 tbsps Pepper powder – 1 tsp Ketchup – 3 tbsps (adjust according to your taste) Shallots / small onions – 2 Saanf/Big jeera – 1 tbsp (Key ingredient)

Steps:

Remove the corners of the bread and slice into bite size pieces. Grease the tava with 1 tsp of oil and ghee and heat it. But this way, all the bread slices absorbs ghee equally. Once the tava is hot, add the bread pieces and roast them till they slightly turn brown in color. Let it cool. Meanwhile heat a kadai and add oil. Once its hot, add the saanf. sauté it for a minute and then add chopped onions. Let it fry for a minute and then add ketchup and pepper powder. Let it cook for a minute and add the roasted bread slices. Mix it well, so that the bread and ketchup blends well.

And thats it. Yummy fried bread is ready. As I said you can pack it for lunch also. Notes:

I usually don’t add salt for this, as ketchup has enough sodium. Instead of pepper, you can also use green chillies. But for kids, I always prefer pepper. Its not mandatory that you should use small onions, you can also use big onion. All you need is close to 2 tbsps.
