It’s a small tradition (homemade treats) that my mom started for special occasions and a way to say ‘Thank You’ to close family and friends who became a part of our celebrations. So I thought why not continue to tradition here every year, I make a small handwritten ‘thank you note’ along with homemade treats for everyone who attends and make our life even more extra special. This year I decided to make these delicious Quick Chocolate Oats Date Energy Balls.
How to Make No-Cook Chocolate Oats Date Energy Balls:
Soak the Dates: Start by soaking your Medjool dates in warm water for about 10 minutes or microwave them in a bowl with 1/4 cup water. This will soften them and the pit will easily come out and they can be easily blended. Blend Ingredients: In a food processor, add roasted nuts, seeds and blend coarsely. Now, add the rolled oats, soaked-pitted dates, cocoa powder, nut butter, spices, and salt. Pulse until the mixture comes together. If the mixture is too dry, add 1-2 tablespoons of water to help it stick.
Form Balls: Once the mixture is well combined, scoop out small portions and roll them into bite-sized balls using your hands. You should be able to make about 15-18 balls, depending on the size. Add Sprinkles & Set: Now, take each ball, roll it in the sprinkles, and place the rolled balls onto a plate. Refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes to firm up. Once set, they are ready to enjoy!
They are SUPER easy to make and TOTALLY delicious. I mean what else can be easier than a ‘no-cook’, ‘no-bake’ treat that’s ready in 10 minutes, serves a crowd, is healthy and above all you get a lot of ‘Awe – they are so Cute’ kinda reactions too 🙂 (The only thing required is to pulse everything together in a food processor – pic above).
You Can Customize these Cocoa Date Oats Energy Balls:
One of the best things about these no-bake energy bites is that they’re incredibly versatile. Here are some variations you can try to make the recipe your own: Add Protein Powder: Boost the protein content by adding a scoop of your favorite plant-based or whey protein powder. This will make the energy balls perfect for post-workout recovery. Use Different Nut Butter: You can use peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter if you have allergies or want a different flavor. Roll in Toppings: After rolling the balls, coat them in shredded coconut, chia seeds, or crushed nuts for added texture and flavor. Add Chocolate Chips: For a sweeter treat, mix in mini chocolate chips or cacao nibs into the dough before forming the balls.
Storing No-Bake/No-Cook Energy Balls:
These Chocolate Oats Date Energy Balls are easy to store, making them a great option for meal prep. You can keep them in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze them for up to three months. If freezing, simply thaw them in the fridge or at room temperature for a quick snack whenever needed.
Here’s a platter that we’re going to enjoy with some hot masala chai and maybe a Netflix movie to drive away the Monday blues. Seriously, do you also get the Monday Blue aches since Sunday afternoon?
