Cereals are not only for breakfast, but you can also use them for preparing snacks. Chocolate cereal cluster is a simple recipe that you can whip up in less than 15 mts, and it’s a great recipe where you can involve kids too. You can melt the chocolate your preferred way, and kids can help fold the cereals and make the clusters.

These white chocolate cereal clusters are,

✔ great snacks for kids. I am not claiming this to be a healthy one. But an easy-to-make sweet snack to curb those sugar cravings.   ✔ Perfect dish for kids’ snack board or party. Whether for Valentine’s day, Halloween, or Christmas, if you are looking for an easy chocolate-based dish, this is your best bet.

Ingredients required

It’s a no-bake recipe with just two ingredients. You can use the available ingredients from your pantry.

  1. All you need is the cereal of your choice. I have used only the flakes from the Honey bunches of oats cereal. You can use plain cornflakes or cheerios too.
  2. Chocolate chips or morsels. I have used a combination of white and butterscotch chocolate chips. You can also use dark chocolate or a combination of dark and milk chocolate. Check out my homemade dark chocolate recipe.

VVK Tips

Make sure to use good-quality chocolate chips. Chocolate chips, with oil, might form threads, and it won’t be pleasant. The butterscotch chips I used were like that (I purchased them without checking the ingredients), so I used only 2 tbsps. (I had to finish it, so I use it little by little in recipes.)For 1 cup of cereals, you need ¾ to 1 cup of chocolate chips (approx 4.5 to 6.5 oz). Do not use more than that. While melting the chocolate, especially in the microwave method, do not leave the chocolate unattended for more than 45 seconds. Take the chocolate out every 30 to 45 seconds, mix it, and microwave it again. Depending on the microwave power, the time might vary. So keep an eye on it.

How to make chocolate cereal clusters

Line a baking tray with parchment paper or aluminum foil and set aside.Take the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.

Microwave it for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring the chocolate every 30 to 45 seconds. I microwaved it for 2 minutes and 30 seconds to melt thoroughly.

Now add the cereals to the melted chocolate.

Slowly fold them in. The cereal flakes might break, and that’s fine. Make sure the cereals are coated well with the chocolate.

Using an ice cream or cookie scoop, scoop out the chocolate clusters.

Place them on the baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Refrigerate them for 30 to 45 minutes or until the clusters are set. It typically sets in less than 45 minutes. Store it in an air-tight container and enjoy. I typically refrigerate them, and it stays good for a week. As I always make small batches, we usually finish them in a week.
