(Source: Millet Network of India, http://www.milletindia.org) According to Wiki, “India is the world’s largest producer of millet. In the 1970s, all of the millet crops harvested in India were used as a food staple. By the 2000s, the annual millet production had increased in India, yet per capita consumption of millet had dropped by between 50% to 75% in different regions of the country. “ But millets are becoming popular again. They are not food for fodder or birds anymore. People are slowly realizing their health benefits and millet-based foods are becoming a trend again. This May, we at Indian Moms Connect, Vidhya’s Vegetarian Kitchen and Secret Indian Recipes are planning to celebrate the Mother’s Day with millet recipes. Bring on your millet recipes or your mom’s and win a gift and also get featured in our Millets e-book. Top three recipes will get prizes and will be featured in our e-Book.
