I am happy to participate back on the monthly blogging marathon. So we post three days a week on a specific theme, and I picked “Millet Special” as my theme for this week. So I am starting with a sweet recipe which is perfect for the upcoming Diwali celebration as well. It is the bajra laddu. Yesterday I posted the kambu thattai and if you have missed it please check the recipe here. I have already shared quite a few information about the pearl millet, including the nutrition information and its health benefits on my gruel/koozh post. So I am not going to reshare the same information again. For Diwali 2018, I wanted to share some sweet and savory recipe with millets and yesterday I shared pearl millet thattai, and now it is time for the laddu.
With just four ingredients, these fiber and protein-rich laddus sure will curb that hunger pangs as well those sweet tooth cravings. Give this a try and let me know how you liked it. Here is the video recipe of the same and as always, please share and subscribe to my channel. I post new videos every, and I will be sharing daily meal plan from next week.
Ingredients:
Pearl Millet Flour – ½ cup Powdered/Grated Jaggery – ¼ cup Cardamom Powder – ⅛ tsp Melted Ghee – 4 tbsp
Prep-Work:
Make the homemade pearl millet flour as mentioned in this post, or you can use store-bought one as well. You can dry the store-bought for a couple of minutes, but that is optional. Melt the ghee and set aside.
Steps:
Pulse the kambu flour, jaggery, and cardamom in a mixer jar. This step ensures that all the ingredients are mixed thoroughly. Take this in a big plate and two tbsps of ghee and mix it thoroughly. Now take a small batch, and add little ghee and shape it into a small round ball. Press the laddu tightly so that it stays intact. Similarly, make laddus with the remaining flour.
Notes:
You can use any millet flour and prepare laddu in the same way. Instead of jaggery, you can include sugar. Add ghee as required while making the laddu. You can add powdered/crushed nuts or whole nuts as well. I kept it nut-free and also simple with minimal ingredients. If you include nuts, add little extra ghee while shaping the laddus.
Sending this recipe for the BM 94. Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing this BM#94
