So, this French toast roll ups idea came about while browsing through Pinterest. It reminds me of a stuffed pancake recipe served at a popular pancake chain in the US. Stuffing the bread with Nutella, strawberry jam and cream cheese before dipping in the custard makes this recipe taste amazing. The best part is that the fillings can be whatever you like. If Nutella is not your thing, then simply use jam or just chopped berries. This is a no egg French toast roll up recipe. Instead of eggs, I use custard powder and it works like a magic. Check the ingredient section for substitutions that you can use instead. All in all this is a very easy breakfast. These Nutella roll ups look very fancy and are great to serve guests at a breakfast or brunch party. You can also roll the cooked roll ups in cinnamon sugar for extra deliciousness.

Non dairy milk like oat and almond will also be great.Custard powder - any brand will work. I recommend either Bird’s or Brown & Polson. Whisk until well combined. Set aside. Roll the bread slices to flatten them a little using a rolling pin. Removing the edges is optional, I left them on mine. Spread the filling (s) of choice on the bottom quarter of the bread and roll it into a tight roll. Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet on medium heat. Dip the bread roll in milk mixture, roll it around so that it absorbs milk evenly, then place seam side down in the preheated skillet. Cook until all sides are evenly browned, about 2~3 minutes on medium flame. Enjoy right away with a drizzle of maple syrup.

Feel free to use any variety you like. I prefer either white or whole wheat bread.I recommend using 2% of whole milk to make the custard. You can totally make this recipe with eggs.
