Today I am posting one more savory recipe, actually two recipes. Baked chips are yet another guilt free snacks that you can have along with tea or some with rice too. When greens and veggies can be baked into chips there is nothing better than that.

Recipe 1: Kale Chips

When I heard about the health benefits of kale, I started using them in my breakfast blends and smoothies. I wasn’t ready to try as gravy or in curries. One fine day one of my colleague prepared this kale chips at work within 20 minutes. (I have fully furnished kitchen at work) Loved the crunchiness and it didn’t taste bitter at all. I wanted to try it home and tried with different dressings. Here is the Indian version of kale chips. I always go for baby kale you can pick whatever you like. Ingredients:

Baby Kale – 2 bunches Olive oil – 2 tbsps Sambhar Powder – 1.5 tsp Salt – 1 tsp

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 375 degree F. Chop the baby kale and remove the stems.

Mix the olive oil, salt and sambhar powder.

Now spread the chopped kale in baking tray. (I always wrap my tray with aluminium foil and discard it right after baking. Helps in cleaning also) Spread the olive oil mixture and mix well. Make sure the oil is coated nicely and evenly. Bake it at 375 degree F for 15 minutes or till they turn crisp.

I would like thank Bingo’s mom for helping me with pics. :-)

Recipe 2 : Plantain Chips in nendram style

When I saw baked potato chips in the shop, I wanted to try it home too. It came out well and I thought why not try with other veggies. So I had 1 plantain and I wanted to try it like baked nendram chips. So used coconut oil instead of regular oil and used pepper powder for spice. Here is the simple plantain chips recipe. Ingredients:

Plantain – 1 Coconut oil – 2 tbsps Salt – 1 tsp Pepper powder – 1 tsp

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 375 degree F. Peel the skin and slice the plantains thinly. Mix the coconut oil, salt and pepper powder.

Now spread the plantain slices in the baking tray. Spread the olive oil mixture and mix well. Make sure the oil is coated nicely and evenly. Bake it at 375 degree F for 8 and flip it over and bake it for 10 minutes or till they turn crisp.

In similar way, we can prepare beets chips, potato chips and also zucchini chips. Low calorie chips good for all.
