I can’t believe we are almost at the finishing line of this month’s mega marathon ‘Explore the Flavors’. Just one more day and we are done with the non stop posting and blogging. So for the penultimate day, I have a crunchy and addictive street food that is popular all over India. It is called Pidatha Kinda Pappu in Telugu. It is very similar to Jhal Muri that is made in North India. As I said before I can’t believe I posted almost all the days in April. It was a lot of fun researching, cooking and posting for all the different themes. It is equally fun reading my fellow marathoners posts. My bookmarks have grown a lot this month and hopefully I will get to try them very soon.

Indian Street Food:

Today’s street food doesn’t really warrant a recipe because it’s more of a mishmash of ingredients that make an addictive snack in the end. I had at least 10 more street food recipes that I really wanted to try. But as I got to the end of my list, I slowly got lazy and finally ended up with this easy street food recipe.

Pidatha Kinda Pappu:

Another reason for making this Pidatha Kinda Pappu is that my husband is a big fan of this chaat. He keeps asking me to make it quite often. Finally I got a chance to make it and click pics to post here. This crunchy snack is probably sold at most street corners in India . There are probably hundreds of ways to make it and as many different names to call it with.

Ingredients for Jhal Muri:

Main ingredient for pidatha kinda pappu is Murmure aka puffed rice. This can be easily found in any Indian grocery store. Also important is chopped raw onions. These give crunch and spiciness to the dish. All the other ingredients balance both the flavors and the textures in the dish. I added fried corn poha (aka Indian corn flakes) and thin sev, roasted peanuts, dalia (putnalu) for crunch. Diced tomatoes, cilantro and lime juice add freshness to the dish. Ground Cumin, chaat masala give spicy kick. Add more veggies like grated carrot, cucumber to make it colorful and filling. Enjoy this yummy snack without leaving your home 🙂 Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing BM# 87.
